'Galiano Suite' in 2D / 3D - on You Tube
Galiano Suite 2 - 'Rhythms' - Al Razutis 2D/3D 2019 14 min.
"What started as a stereoscopic 3D film became a puzzle with riddles.
Like how to see 'something' that can't be seen
with a stereo pair being paired and paired
for the mind's stereopsis
which only thinks in simple two-channel binaries.
'Galiano Suite', a place of such marvels."

'Galiano Shorebreak' in Anaglyph 3D
'Galiano Shorebreak' - 5 min. version anaglyph 3D video by Al Razutis 2019
Anaglyph 3D glasses (red-cyan) required to view properly in 3D - released on YOUTUBE.
'Galiano Shorebreak' - 11 min. version anaglyph 3D video
'Galiano Shorebreak' is a silent film poem shot in native 3D on Galiano Island, British Columbia, a dance with eroded stone works shoreline whose movements are mapped as the camera is free to move as a wave upon the surface of shore.
This version is rendered in red-cyan anaglyph stereo 3D to match the stone colour surfaces and to fix the 3D as colour 'relief'. This work comes in two durations: 5 minutes and 11 minutes, which represent venue-oriented durations (from smartphone to gallery installation) and contain different expanded endings.

'Ensalada Deja Vu' in Anaglyph 3D
'Ensalada Deja Vu'' - 6 min. version 'para llevar' anaglyph 3D video by Al Razutis 2019
Anaglyph 3D glasses (red-cyan) required to view properly in 3D
'Ensalada Deja Vu' comes in several sizes, call it 'prepared to order': as "para llevar" (take out) 6 min. and "para aqui" (stay for dining) 20 minutes, and available in 1080p.
Para aqui is 19 minutes, for installation, projection on a wall, perhaps facing "Galiano Shorebreak" (which is silent) with expanded content and different ending from 6 min. version.
This 'fly on the wall view' perspective is combined with 'tossed salad' editing style with VFX, step-printing, ghosting, as image and time is mixed into ensalada and rendered as red-cyan anaglyph 3D video for viewing with anaglyph 3D glasses or in '2D' with color offset double images. It documents opening night at our 2010 exhibition of holographic art, stereo 3D art - history, lenticular art, and 3D video and film presentations - the exhibition title was "Deja Vu". Some of the opening night attendees become 'characters' in this video through no other design except chance, or what Lautremont wrote and the Surrealists embraced: "As beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella on an operating table."
The video has no narration. Video subjects are the people, the art is backgrounded. The people are not lit in with 'proper cinematographic etiquette'. Camera sits like a fly on the wall. It gets noisy. A audio visual salad.

The Playa at Night a voyeur's delight (Anaglyph 3D) - 3 min. 2018
This meditation on Burning Man 2015 night scenes features dissolving freeze-frames of 3D / 2D 'smeared' moments and is set to slowed down music by Gary Miles.
Can be viewed in 2D and / or 3D - the anaglyph version represents a state of incompleteness in stereo 3D, which then becomes suggestive as to what is missing.
Use anaglyph 3D (red / cyan) glasses to view in 3D.
The Playa in White (in sand wind and light) - Al Razutis 3 min. 2018
3 min. excerpt from Scenes from Burning Man 2015 by Al Razutis (XAR3D), focused on the 'playa sirens and shapes coming to life' in sand storms and changing light.
Music from Gary Miles composition slowed down by AR.
2D standard version. 720p
Night Scenes Burning Man 2018 - 5 min.
Interpretive documentary, experimental video by Al Razutis, with music by Gary Miles.
Various sections depict camp Galavant art tour, the playa at night and burn (light walkers and burn baby burn...) - 5 min. version.
2018 film by Al Razutis (XAR) in standard 2D is an excerpt from larger project of films interpreting Burning Man 2015 with individual films in 2D and 3D released separately.

Experimental films in collaboration with Gary Courtland-Miles (sound)
New Experimental short films on subjects such as 'Burning Man':
"We finish the year with some collaborations between Gary Courtland-Miles, a composer musician and island neighbor, with whom I worked back in 2015, and myself on the various subjects that I've explored, and for release this month and throughout 2022.
I'm delighted that we're back at it, two creative forces on the same island, for a while(!)" -- AR
BM 2021 by XAR (Al Razutis) -- with music by Gary Courtland-Miles - 18 min.
A favorite from 2019:
"Galiano Suite - No. 1" (2019) -- 4 min. sound or silent
"A favorite of mine that I re-present to you to show that it's not 'just film' or 'just holography' but includes all manners of viewing compositions in movement including stereoscopic 3D and conceptualizing about it:"
https://youtu.be/msGoStWsHgI
and with the following comments:
"Austere and simple, Galiano Suite #1 is comprised of long takes in stereo 3D with squeezed side by side stereopairs multiplexed into four screens as the framing device for this introductory movement in the Galiano Suite. Rendered in slo-mo.
"Sound level is very low, it's almost silent. It can be adjusted upwards if desired, but the preference is to keep it low as an ambience of unknown origins.
"Reference: 'Galiano Suite' is a suite of short films or 'movements' which, though derived from stereoscopic 3D film pairs is made to be seen without 3D glasses."
A classic from the analog 90's!
3 min. excerpt from 'VIRTUAL FLESH' (1996) now in anaglyph 3D on YouTube:
"Imagine 'Virtual Flesh' projected on a huge screen in 3D -- something like 20 ft diagonal -- by two Barco projectors, viewed with passive polarized glasses.... Imagine that! Imagine where? In the Louvre Paris auditorium in 1997 -- I talk about that tour of films, VR, and 3D video in my page 'which floats like a suspended time-capsule among all the 3D detritus and the noise' on the web. Yeah, this wasn't a one-night stand, ever. " -- 1997 Film and 3D Video / VR Tour of France
