Cosmo Player Quick Reference

The Cosmo Player dashboards contains two sets of controls. The controls on the Movement dashboard let you move through a world; the controls on the Examine dashboard let you examine specific objects within the world. The dashboard you see when you enter a world is determined by the author and may also be hidden by the author to display more of the world. To alternate between the Movement dashboard and the Examine dashboard, click the handle at the left side of the center controls.

To select a control, click a button on the dashboard, then move the pointer into the window that contains the world. The pointer's shape is similar to the icon on the button.

To walk through a world:

Go			Drag to move around in the world. Drag up to move forward, down to move backward, right to turn left, or left to turn right.
Slide			Alt-drag to move straight up and down, or to slide left and right.
Tilt			Ctrl-drag to look around without moving.
Float			Lets you fly through a world above the ground.
Gravity			Lets you walk through a world on the ground.

To examine specific objects in a world:

Rotate			Drag with the mouse to spin the object(s) in front of you.
Pan			Alt-Drag to move the object in front of you left, right, up, or down.
Zoom			Ctrl-Drag to move the object in front of you closer or farther.

Other useful functions:

Seek			Click the Seek button and then click directly on the object to get closer. Double-click to enter Continuous Seek mode.
Straighten			Places you upright and level in the world.
Undo/Redo Move			Moves you to the last place you stopped.

Keyboard Shortcuts

In addition to using the Cosmo Player dashboard to navigate worlds, you can select tools and functions from the keyboard. Using keyboard shortcuts to select tools and viewing options is helpful when the author of a world has hidden the dashboard.

Delete or Backspace	Undo Move

"`" or "~" keys	Press the "`" key or the "~" key to toggle between the Movement dashboard and the Examine dashboard
Keypad "+"	Press the "+" key on the keypad to toggle between Gravity and Float
Keypad *	Press the * key on the keypad to toggle the headlight on or off
