Dan Schweitzer, an internationally recognized holographic artist, lost his battle with lung cancer December 5th, 2001.   An accomplished holographer and educator, he co-founded the Center For The Holographic Arts in 1998 with Ana Maria Nicholson where they served as co-directors. Schweitzer taught holography for many years at New York's School of Visual Arts. In 1977, he co-founded New York Holographic Laboratories with Sam Moree, where many art holographers were trained. He received numerous awards, including the prestigious Shearwater Holographic Artist Award, for his contribution to holography as an art medium and the creation of some of it's most "classic" art works. Many of his works can be seen in exhibitions currently traveling throughout the USA.
